Document management system IS ALeX

IS ALeX is a configurable web-based information system with focus on the document management. The documents are organized in folders and additional information, so called metadescription, can be attached to both folders and documents. A fine-grained system of user privileges controls the access to the folders, documents, and even to their metadescription. IS ALeX controls versions of your documents so that you always obtain the up-to-date contents of your documents.

IS ALeX is

• Web-based IS ALeX provides a comfortable user interface in your web browser (MS Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox). No installation is required on the client side. It is enough to have a computer connected to the Internet and a compatible web browser to access the information stored in IS ALeX. Due to this architecture, the maintenence costs are low and it is really easy to share your documents with your business partners.
• Safe The users of IS ALeX must authenticate with a username and a password. IS ALeX is equipped with a fine-grained system of user privileges that controls the user access to folders, documents and even to data stored in metadescription of your folders and documents. Due to this system you can create a folder with a list of invoices, for example, where only selected users can see the invoice totals.
• Configurable The administrator of your IS ALeX installation can define the structure of the information attached to your documents and folders without programming. The structure of metadescription may differ from folder to folder. Hereby, you may use a different structure of metadescription of the documents in the incoming letters folder, in the folders with technical documents, in the ISO documentation folders, etc.
• Well tested Company EXCON a.s., whose main field of activity is steel structure design, has been using IS ALeX for more than four years. At present, more than 150 000 documents are stored in the company's system, including AutoCAD drawings, ISO documentation, offers and orders evidence, etc. IS ALeX was not built from scratch: its architecture makes use of experience gained by developing document management systems with focus on project documentation since 1995.
• Localized The user interface of IS ALeX is localized to Czech and English languages. Now it is technically simple to add new languages.
• Easy to install Provided you have a server with all required software already installed, the basic installation of IS ALeX takes upto 1 hour.
